Want to be adopted by grandparents at 19.?

I've been living with my grandparents since I were born..but my mom also lived with us..my grands later moved to alabama when i was nine...to make a long story kind of short I moved with them to alabama when I was 14 and now I can't get financial Aid because my parents don't want to give up there Tax info..
So my only bet is to let my grands adopt me...we would've did this earlier if we knew we were gonna have this problem..but my grands did get legal guardianship, but of course that doesn't matter with the govt.....

no your over 18 you should be on your own now.

Actually if your grands have legal guardianship and they are claiming you as a dependent on their taxes (they can do that if they are supporting you and you are in college) then yes it does count.

You give their tax info in place of your parents' tax info.

If no one is claiming you as a dependent on their taxes then you are an independent student and don't need parent or guardian tax info for the financial aid app.

If your parents are illegally claiming you as a dependent on their taxes, then head over to the irs.gov and report them for tax fraud.

In Wisconsin you can be adopted at any age. My mother -in-law adopted a family friend who was in her thirties.
