How can I be declared independant by fincial aid? |
Okay, so this question is not about me but my boyfriend. We are both 20 and are in college. His parents are a bit psyco and bible pushers, its to the point where his mom wont even let us go camping together, because two unmarried people going camping is sinful. Whatever. Anyways, we want to move out and get an apartment together. Problem is, his parents will start to refuse to give him any information he needs for fincial aid. So how can be be declared independent, and not have to put his parents info down? The 7 questions: It's usually hard to get declared independent. He can fill the form out to the best of his ability. Get married or get older. As long as his parents can claim him as a dependent (they needn't actually claim him) he can not be considered independent (I'm not sure whether the age is 21 or 23) They have to provide less than have of his yearly expenses.
