What's a good disease i can do a presentation on that relates to human physiology?

I'm doing a 6 page paper and 8 minute presentation on any disease/syndrome that relates to human physiology. I need a topic that has a lot of published information so I can gather the resources easily.

I am a good presenter and writer, but picking a topic is the main obstacle for me. If you guys can list some good ones and provide a quick highlight of what it is, it may spark my interest to start writing. But im seriously stuck right now.

This can't be a mental disorder. Also, im sure the common diseases such as AID's, STD's, Cancer, Diabetes, etc are already taken by students. I need an uncommon topic that is interesting.

Pseudoarthrosis of the Tibia.

It means false joint in the tibia...

tibia=shin bone.

There is a classification scale wtih 1 being super weak and almost no bone at all.....To 4, you have the disease but the bone is stable and intact.

What usually happens is the bone just disolves or breaks and when that happens it doesn't want to heal.

Different methods are used to encourage union of the bones
different rods
bone grafts from the hip, or ribs, doner bones
morphogeneic ? protein that isn't FDA approved but shows encouraging results in bone healing time

The most severe cases end up with multiple failed operations throughout childhood and eventually amputation.

If the surgons can keep the leg stable enough throughout childhood, once an adult the patient usually does just fine.

After operations many patients are put in a spica cast. This is basically a body cast

Problems that come with psuedoarthrosis is that the growth plate gets damaged and the leg is much shorter than the other leg....one option is to slow the growth of the good leg or try to repair the growth plate of the 'bad' leg. The foot is usually affected as well. Causing the shoe size to be around 2 sizes smaller.......sometimes the ankle is fixed or won't rotate or move properly......physical therapy can help teach a young child how to cope wtih limited movement

Another problem is all the scars that occur due to multiple surgeries with bone graphs etc...

You can do google searches to find more information. This should be a good start

Can you do an infection?

If so, do MRSA. It is so prevalent in hospitals and has become deadly as well as controversial.

Try narcolepsy - sleeping sickness.
