What is Disability Living Allowance, can I get it?

I've been made aware by both my Audiologist and my GP that I should be claiming for Disability Living Allowance, but to be really honest I've never heard about it until today. I require the use of two hearing aids (Which I should be wearing all the time, but don't always do so), and I've been told by my GP that I am currently 70% deaf and there's a likelihood that it will get worse with time. Going from the information he gave me he says that I should get the application pack and bring it back to him so he can fill in his part, and then take it to my audiologist who said they would do the same. Can you be so kind as to tell me everything that I need to know? how much do you get? would I be succesful?

Thank you so much for your help :)

Hi
i get DLA too.
if your deaf, your entitled to it, even if your working it wont affect your DLA. every deaf person have a right to have DLA. you should fill it out. they just want to see how hard it is for you to be deaf and this way they can pay you to make your life abit easier. im 18, im not that expperienced, but you can im me for more information.

(im deaf too, but profoundly deaf, and i dnt use sign lanuage, just normal speaking)

Disability Living Allowance is a benefit payable if you need care or if you have mobility problems. I don't believe you can claim it if deafness is your only disability. More information is at http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/DisabledPeop...

i thought you said you worked fulltime, which suggests you dont need looking after.

not alot
about 拢70
have you looked for work where you rely on sight rather than hearing? e.g. computer programming; art;etc
or possibly train to teach children who are deaf
or train to teach sign language
