Financial aid help please?

on my financial aid it askes for Student's 2007 Adjusted Gross Income: i put 8, 953 then it askes for Student's 2007 U.S. Income Tax Paid: do i put the same amount because i did and it said.........A highlight flag appears to the right of any Student Aid Report (SAR) information that may be inconsistent, missing, or contradictory with other information reported. Be sure to review any information with a highlight flag. You can correct flagged information by going to the FAFSA on the Web home page and selecting Make Corrections to a Processed FAFSA under the FAFSA Follow-up section.





what am i doing wrong and what does it mean when it askes for Student's 2007 U.S. Income Tax Paid:

it has a highlight flag next to both answers

Your adjusted gross income can not be the same amount as your "Income tax Paid" because this would mean all the money you earned would go straight to the government in taxes. The amount of income tax paid would come off your income tax form. Look on the line number of your tax form the fafsa website specifies. YOU MUST DO THIS EXACTLY as I have stated.

Because "Income tax paid" is NOT the amount you paid into the government at the end of the year if you owed and it is NOT the amount of tax that was withheld from your earnings.

The information that you input on the FAFSA should come from your 2007 Federal Tax Return. Did you file? If so, how much did you pay in income tax? If you didn't file, then you did not pay any US Income tax so the answer would be 0.
