How do I go by starting to play the violin?

I've always wanted to play the violin. I've played the guitar for about 6-7 years and I want to try something new. How should I get myself going for this? I have the whole summer to start this. I'm 20 years old. Which size violin should I get? Where should I get it? What other accessories should I get? What other books, aids, etc should I get? Give me as much information as you can, because I really want to try this. I need something to do for the summer and I want to open up my music world once again...

Then find a private teacher.

You could go to a music store possibly the same one where you got your guitar from and rent a violin or look one up on the Internet. As for as learning how to play if you can play the guitar you can learn how to play the violin I think the only difference is instead of a pic you have what they call a bow to strum the strings.
