FINANCIAL AiD QUESTIONS????

Ok I was wondering will I still be elgible for a scholarship for the 08-09 school year even though Im recieving a pell grant?.

& another question was When i first did my fafsa I reported 7 ppl in my household, but one financial aid advisor told me they were only talking about "my immediate familiy" she made me mark off my two nieces even though my dad supports them. so a few days later when i got home and thought about it the school went into my fafsa and changed it back to 5. So when i did the verification forms it was after THEY changed my info but BEFORE i went back on and changed it again. So i went to the fin. aid office and told them but they didn't tell me to do all the forms over again just the ones when i list household ppl, is that all the forms i needed or was i suppose to do all?

& is it true that i can only list the household ppl only if ym dad claimed them on his taxes??? thats what the fin aid advisor told me

1. Yes, you can get Pell and scholarships at the same time.

2. This is the question on the fafsa you are referring to regarding to the number of people in the household. It is DIRECTLY off the worksheet. You were simply following the instructions on the form by putting 7 instead of 5. How many people are in your parents鈥?household? (Q66)
Include in your parents鈥?household: (1) your parents and yourself, even if you don鈥檛 live with your parents, (2) your parents鈥?other children if (a) your parents will provide more than half of their support from July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2009, or (b) the children could answer 鈥淣o鈥?to every question in Section 2 of this worksheet, and (3) include other people only if they live with your parents, your parents provide more than half of their support, and your parents will continue to provide more than half of their support from July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2009.

(Note: no where in the question does it say your parents have to claim them on a tax form to include them in this number).

PS Be sure you are not referring to this quesiton: "Enter your parents鈥?exemptions for 2007. (Q81)"

3. If the advisor insists 5 ppl, then you really can't do much about it. They have the last say, but again.. Pull out the form (I'm attaching it) and show her what it says about providing half the support.

They aren't likely on his tax form because their mother is prob claiming them on HER taxes (meaning she has signed a LEGAL document stating she is supporting them and is reaping the tax/cash benefits from that in a nice refund each year). This little arrangement is probably been worked out with your dad and aunt and may not be exactly legal.... and the fin aid knows this.... so they can't be on your fafsa if mom has claimed them.
