Please help me get my brother into school!?

my brother is trying to go to a art college and has already been acepted but my parents are beening assholes and will not give him the info for the finacial aid he is a good kid and has never been in trouble we just have horrible parents sad to say is there anything he can do to get past this he is only 17 and we reall y need some help or good advice thanks

Call any schools he applied to and asked the information to be sent to. They will have a copy of it.

Good for him for wanting to go to school and good for you for supporting him. Have him talk to his guidance counselor at school too. They may know of other avenues he can get help.

You need to explain to your folks that by providing their financial information they are allowing him to pay for school himself without their assistance. Them providing it does not obligate them in any way to pay for his school. He will be able to get out loans in his name without them cosigning for him. (In the amount of 3,500 a year in Stafford loans as a freshman).

PS. It could be they don't like his choice of schools. If this is an "art school" it could be more than he is allowed to borrow in federal money. Most of those for profit schools are very expensive. Perhaps if he went to a state school or community college and majored in art they would be more cooperative.

Contact the school and tell them the situation. I'm sure your brother is not the only kid whose parents didn't want to pay for college.... especially art school... it's expensive.

In your parents defense, maybe the school is not a top school in the art world?

Your brother should be able to do things on his own, filling out paperwork without parents help.
