Would contacting a lawyer help? Anyone have a similar experience?

I feel like I am losing my mind here. I can't work because there is something seriously wrong with my leg/hip/thigh & I can't get medical care, and SSI has denied me because there is not enough Medical information for them to go by they said. I cannot GET diagnosed because we can't afford for me to see a doctor. I've heard time and again how difficult it is to even get Social Security-and many have said you have to get a lawyer. I have no idea what to do at this point. I am on the FHIAP(family health insurance assistance program) reservation list, which might come up in 2009 I was told. I repeatedly apply for OHP(Oregon Health Plan), and I've even applied for health care services through Senior & Disability Services-but have been denied twice already. I am not getting anywhere. My husband is the only one working-supporting a family of 4 on a min wage job. I am out of idea's, and am now wondering if maybe Legal Aid could help at all. I'm tired of this pain too.

Your case is a classic tale of the failure of the health services-for-profit industry in the USA. No one should have to go through that pain and rejection in one of the world's most advanced industrial countries.

Not that any of that philosophysing makes it any better for you or your family.

The only thing you have left at your disposal is the Emergency Care system. If your pain becomes unbearable just sit in the queue at the local emergency room and get treated. Medicare will pay your bill--after you say you can't afford it. Also you will have a medical record that SSI may take a look at.

Sorry to hear about your problem. Hope you get treatment. Tell people to support Universal Single Payor Health Care so this doesn't happen to other families enduring tough times.

Call a lawyer that specializes in SSI claims, they're used to their clients being broke, that's kind of the point of applying, right? He'll work a deal with you.

ps- Go to a chiropractor and get fixed. I'm betting that small amount of money will get you a big amount of relief, and they will document your history extremely well for SS.

I have met this sort of situation before, here is the resource I found helpful.http://health-insurance.onlinebestoffer....
