Get answers from millions of real people.?

I have a non-profit organization. Peepz Helping Hands for Kidz. Our mission is to
Providing free computers & Youth development training workshops to low-income, at risk youth, & handicap students. In return for forty hours of community service.
Like many up start organizations, we are seeking funding, but most of all a building to run this program out of. I noticed that there is a lot of vacant buildings in my community. Some has been sitting vacant for over a year. A furniture stores would be ideal for my organization, which would give us enough room to set up workshop classes and hold small events to aid with fundraisers. Do anyone have any information on how should I approach one of these building owner and convince them allow my organization to operate out of his building until we can get up and running. Can this be written off as a tax deduction using our 501 ( c ) 3 tax exempt ? I鈥檝e heard others say, 鈥渁sk if they will donate it. How?
annette.hines@abbott.com email me.

The President of one of the biggest and most prominent non profits in DC a few years ago got a call from the owner of the next door building -- and the owner said that he wants to donate the building to the foundation. It was a totally unexpected gesture, and the president of the said foundation together with lawyers and accountants went to the owner of the building to prepare the documentation and transfer titles.

So yes, it can be done and it is happening. The question, though is how can it happen for you?

And there's no other way to do it, really, except to ask. And that's the only way to do it -- to talk to people and ask them to do it for you.

Except that this foundation has an easier task because it is very well known (think regular CNN/FoxNews guestings of its analysts). Your problem is that you are an unknown and has not even started.

It would be easier if your group has achieved something concrete as it will make the building owner want to help you more. Prepare your marketing materials - who are you, what you do, who are on board with your cause, what are your goals. Then talk to accountants and ask how this transfer would work, and more importantly, what are the benefits the owner of the building can get if they transfer the building to you

Then have a proposal ready outlining the benefits to the building owner of transfering the property to your group

Hello,

Great post. The most important part of business is advertising. This makes or breaks a business. Some of the best ways to advertise I've found are:

1. Offline promoting (business cards, flyers, newspaper and other print advertising).
2. Online promoting (buying banner ads, forum posts, email auto replies).

The best method that's worked for me so far is handing out business cards. I don't do this in the usual way.... I buy them in bulk from a place online (they give the cards for free, I just paid shipping and handling...they also give a really nice free business card holder, it looks impressive). They're really high quality. I just put all of the info about my business on the cards, and I hand them out on cars at bus stations, malls, etc. It's worked out really, really well for me, and it's completely inexpensive =)

Good Luck with your business!
