Navel piercing information?

O.k i might be getting mine pierced this week but i want to know if i could go swimming while its healing...if i cover it with a eye patch or like with a band-aid will it be save from an infection.. thanks

One more thing im 14 so how bad sould it hurt...and....like i have this indent on top of my belly buttonlike in the skin..i know sounds weird lol

most piercers will advise against swimming or submerging your piercing in a bath or hot tub for at least the first month.

use of a hard eye patch if you're wearing something that is tight fitting (tight pants/shorts/skirt/shirt or pantyhose) is fine as it will prevent trauma to the pierced area, but water will still get in if you're thinking about swimming.

if you're too impatient to wait that long....most drugstores have waterproof bandages that can be put over the area for swimming...however you should only wear it long enough to swim and then remove it. Your piercing needs to be able to breathe to help with healing and bandages prevent this from happening.

it takes 6 months to a year for a navel piercing to fully heal and they are very susceptible to infection, migration and rejection. keep your belly very clean.

ok first off it doesnt hurt at all, i just got mine done and you barely feel a thing

and the thing above your bellybutton i have the same thing, like when you pull down on the lower part of your bellybutton it sticks out more? haha my friends call it a bellybutton lip

and for the swimming part, its totally cool to swim, just make sure you clean it after you get done swimming

and hardly touch your piercing because it will hurt if you mess around with it too much, try not to touch it at all

oh yea and if u do decide to get it pierced make sure your piercer doesnt use a clamp cause that makes blood rise to the area and it will actually hurt then. mkay?

You'll probably be safe swimming, but it's a risk. It's safer in a pool than in a lake or ocean, but as long as you clean it thoroughly when you get out with a sea salt and water solution (I suggest buying some H2Ocean) then you should be safe from infection.

where will u go swimming?
If it is the beach that is great. The beach (ocean has sea salt and healing minerals that also disinfect naturally).
If it is the pool then I would skip it for now.
