A question about student loans/ financial aid?

What loans can I apply for (I have a reliable co-signer) without having filled out the fafsa?
I was going to fill it out with my father's info, but he makes quite a bit and I knew I wouldn't be approved for anything (I know others who's parents collectively made less, had more dependents, and filled it out earlier and didn't receive any grants or subsidized loans.) So, I tried filling it out with my mother's and stepfather's information, but they recently moved, lost their w-2s in the process and didn't file their taxes. And for some reason they just won't call their former employers for me to get new ones so I can fill out my fafsa. I've called my financial aid office, but they just keep telling me to fill out the fafsa with my mother's info and ignoring me when I tell them the situation.
Soo... please don't tell me to fill out the fafsa, or to call my financial aid office, those options aren't viable. I need to know how and where I can apply for a reliable loan. Thank you!

And I don't want to go through my university because it has a terrible reputation for pushing certain companies that donate to it, rather than doing what's actually best for the student.

it seems like it would be your best bet to go through a private lending source. with private lenders, you can use your father's information, the fact that he makes alot and/or has decent credit will actually be better for you. if you use him as a co-signer, you can be sure to keep your interest rate as low as possible.

to apply to these loans is just a matter of a simple online application , or if you choose a bank college loan program you can go to any of their local branches if applicable.
you can try sallie mae, astrive student loans, or even citi bank just to name a few

when you use a private lending source such as astrive...they will cut you a personal check...the university is not involved in that...to my understanding its as if you are paying the school cash out of pocket. Report Abuse

Student Loan can be sought through many different avenues. It all depends on your personal credit rating. The biggest challenge is finding one that offers the lowest interest rate. There are various routes to explore when seeking out a bad credit student loan and I would suggest that your first port of call would be the school for which you are about to attend. You will need to fill out a FAFSA form in order to initially apply for a federal loan. Perkins loans are combined school and government funds. A combination loan may be another alternative way of acquiring a bad credit student loan. This type of student loan enables you to consolidate<!--any existing loans that you have whilst applying for a new tuition loan. The only drawback to this type of loan is that you may need someone to co-sign.Another way to get a bad credit student loan is to get a co-signer. Maybe a family member with good credit would help. This way you could get loans with more attractive interest rates and terms, in spite of your bad credit. You may find the student loan here,

Finally, if all else fails you will need to contact banks and financial institutions. They will more than likely be happy to lend you the money, but it will be on a higher interest rate than usual. When you have bad credit the banks will check out your personal credit score first and then offer terms based on the credit rating assessment. Take heart, even if your bad credit student loan is set at a high interest rate, numerous-->student loans defer your payment until you have finished college. This in turn will allow you time to improve your credit rating and when you leave college you could then look into consolidating your bad credit student loan at a better interest rate. This will mean your monthly payments will be at a lower level and therefore more affordable.
