My parents won't provide their 2007 tax return information. Is there any way I can go forward w/o this info? |
My parents are generally not supportive of me and don't really care if I go to college, but I really need the financial aid in order to attend college. That's too bad. As long as you are their dependent you're going to have to provide their financial information in order to get financial aid based on their income. If you were emancipated from them you wouldn't have to do that. Is there some way your parents would be willing to provide a statement of their total income, perhaps through an accountant, and if so would that satisfy the college without seeing their entire tax form? Hi: I was in the same situation. For most colleges and financial aid applications, if you state that you have been completely self-supporting for at least 24 months, your parent's income is irrelevant. I wrote this in the box where I was asked for my parental income and no one ever questioned it. How old are you? Will this work for your situation? That is horrible of them. Consider enlisting in the service to get free college money. Go Coast Guard. That way, you don't really have to worry about going to Iraq, and you will have medical benefits, housing, food, a paycheck every two weeks, and it will be really good for you. If you can prove that your parents support you in no way, then you should be able to apply as an independent. Speak with someone at the school's financial aid office about this. |
