Should I go to public or private school?

Well here's my situation... I've been going to public school all my life and since now im going to be a junior in high school I'm starting to really worry about my future and i've heard alot of good things about private school. Also I've been looking at this one private school The Harker School in California and I just don't know what to do... my public high school isn't that bad i have friends and i do sports and its pretty nice and i dont want to leave all my friends I've made. But on the second hand i don't want to apply for colleges and then they're looking at people who went to private school before publics. Though my family doesn't have that much money, and they say 10% of the students have financial aid and stuff.. but can any body help me out?


And really its not that easy... I've applied just because i wanted information but they called me just to confirm and I'm very confused about this whole thing..

Well you're smart to check it out. I graduated from a private school so I know all about it. I can tell you going to a private school is not easy (at least mine wasn't). I had to work hard, but I have totally developed my study skills and am so ready for college in the fall.

Honestly it depends on the actual school. Although colleges can see private schools as a plus, it is not necessarily better. You can lose on things such as extracurricular activities. Also you can take honors classes in public school. Colleges look at four things: Grades/classes, SAT and ACT scores, extracurricular activities, and community service. Each of these weighs about the same. I went to a Christian college prepatory school. It was worth it for me because of my religion but also because it鈥檚 all focused on college. (only five of my graduating class didn't go to college: three became firemen and the other two are in the army) What I鈥檓 trying to say is I found it more beneficial for me personally, rather than for college admittance.

If you want to stay in your public school, that will be just as good. Just apply yourself in school and try to take honors classes. Also do sports, join student council, or some after school activity. Make sure to do AND record all of your community service. If you do these then you will be fine.

What do you want to do? Because if you are determined (and you seem to be) you will get into the college you want.

private schools aren't always the best to let you know. if your parents really can't afford it then don't bother you ahve your friends at your public school, all you need to do is get noticed by getting extremely good grades and participating in many events collages like to look at well round students, not rich lil kids.
