How do I quit an organization whose beliefs I don't really agree with? |
To make the story short I would consider myself a conservative person. Last year during my freshman year of college I wanted to join a club any club bc I wanted to meet people. One day I was walking through an area where a lot of clubs were giving out info. I picked up one that looked really interesting. It's intention was to help the poor both globally and in the school's city. But it relies to much on government aid and even more on principles I don't really align myself with. Why am I still in it you ask? bc I was voted treasurer and I actually like the people in the group. I just don't think I'm spending my time wisely. The group focuses on getting certain candadates elected who I will never vote for and I have yet to write more than one letter asking for aid for any of its causes. I would rather just willingly give my own money away. First be responsible and write a resignation letter stating your reason for stepping down. Part of growing up is being able to stand up for your beliefs and self. If you don't think you can make it through your time as treasurer giving it your best then be a big girl. As we live and learn we find that time is very precious. Search out before committing your time and use it wisely. Submit a letter of resignation and state the same in it. Obviously in a professional manner, but the fact is they need to know the reason you are leaving or they will never fix it because they don't know it's broke! Don't have a dog in the fight in this election, but if you are American you can wear one of those "F*ck Obama" t-shirts to the next meeting. That might save you the trouble of resigning. Just a thought. Just be honest and say that this just isn't for me anymore or whatever you feel like. They can't force you stay. And I'm sure that if your friends in this group like you for you they will understand. Say your too busy to be in the group. |
