Financial aid appl. i need help on the parent info part asap!!?

ok so im filling out the application right now and i live with a roommate and stuff...im 19 but i moved out my parents house alonnng time ago..im ready to enroll in school but i need some financial help..but its not letting me skip the parent info part! i want nothing to do with em! how do i over-look this part of the app? please reply quick.thanks a lot

You can't skip it, you have to get their information and fill it in.

You know what really sucks, is that even though your 19 and they don't give you any financial support, you are still financially, legally binding to them until you are 24 years of age. Not until then can you (legally) claim yourself as independent, unless you become married or "divorce" your parents. Sure, your parents may not put you as a dependent on their taxes and you may claim independent now, BUT if the school's financial aid office decides they want to check out all of your taxes (and your parent taxes) to make sure everything's legit for financial aid purposes, then you're in trouble. Under the universities eyes, you are dependent until you are 24.
So, I can't remember what's exactly on your application, but you can't simply skip your parent's info. Call the college/university and talk to a financial aid counselor!!!! This will be your best bet!!
Good luck!

It sounds like you and your parents have an extremely bad relationship if you want nothing to do with them. 'Something terrible must have happened for you to cut your parents out of your life this way, If they have abused you and you have proof, you can be declared independent by your school financial aid office. You will need police reports or statements from teachers, church leaders that witnessed whatever happened between you and your family.

There are seven 'yes/no' questions on the FAFSA. If you answer 'yes' to just one of the questions then you do not need to provide your parent's information. However, if you answer 'no' to all seven then, for financial aid purposes, you are considered a dependent student and parental information is required. It does not mean they have to contribute financially to your education, it just means that their information has to be used to determine your eligibility. If there are extenuating circumstances the financial aid office at your college can override this requirement, but it is usually only done based on extreme circumstances (i.e. abuse, parents in prison, etc.). Check with your aid office for the specifics on this process.

be specific about your question pls...Did you fill up the FAFSA yet? well, I think the info about parents is just considered as a formality...even an orphan may need to put some info about his/her guardian...but in the end, it has nothing to do with it as long as you consider yourself as an independent instead of dependent...

you're more than welcome to ask more if you still need help with it...k?
