I am a new Wiccan. Can you suggest any books that can aid with my studies?

This information is quite important for i am unable to find a teacher in my area...

Im not another "raised-christian rebeling teen" and im not trying to rebel against "mommy and daddy" either... since i was little i knew i was religious because i just couldnt face the fact that there wasnt a god out there..but every god i found out about wasnt the one i believed in..then i heard about wicca and started to reasearch..it was like something inside me just sorta clicked..i knew it was the right one for me.. so please dont leave answers talking about how im going to hell or im just a stupid child, because ive already tired other religions..they didnt work, but i have a feeling that Wicca is for me..a feeling i never felt with any other religion

As above, anything by Scott Cunningham is good.

Can I also suggest http://www.witchvox.com/ and there are also a lot of wiccan yahoo groups which will give you a chance to chat to other likeminded people.

Get with these guys www.uutampa.org

They are universalist, and they have wiccan rites and festivals. Email them. I went to school there as a teenager. Let me know how it goes. Good luck.

I suggest anything by Scott Cunningham. He is the most balanced source for information about Wicca that I know of. A truly wonderful and knowledgeable Wiccan author!

The following website has an excellent book review section, as well as good information overall:

http://wicca.timerift.net

Best of luck to you on your path. Stay FAR away from anything by Silver Ravenwolf. There's an essay on that same site that explains why.

Merry Meet Twilight
I would suggest anything by Scott Cunningham, Raymond Buckland and Laurie Cabot. Avoid Silver Ravenwolf and DJ Conway.
Many Blessings in your journey.

Start with some of Scott Cunningham's books. Move from there.

You can hit up
http://witchvox.com/
and
http://wicca.timerift.net/
for suggested reading lists. Avoid anything by Silver Ravenwolf.

Merry meet, Twilight!

I, too, was raised a Christian and never felt right about it. I always felt I had to ignore some of my beliefs in order to make them "fit" into what Christianity was teaching me, or I had to ignore some of those teachings to make Christianity fit my beliefs. When I discovered Wicca it was like the world opened up for me and I have been on that path ever since.

Please don't listen to the bible-thumpers - there is no hell and you're not going there if you don't choose their path (but I think you know that already!)

Read anything by Scott Cunningham, you might want to start with his book, "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner". Also, I found "A Wiccan Bible" by A.J. Drew pretty informative. He's not quite as open minded as Cunningham but there was a lot of useful info in there. Stay away from Silver Ravenwolf. Definitely use the internet for resources, but, as always, use caution.

I wish you the best on your journey! Blessed Be!

Note to Julius: Why so hostile? Just because someone doesn't share your beliefs doesn't make them less of a person then you.

Merry Meet Twilight,

There are many new people asking about the craft each and every day, and if we do our best to aid these new people in their quest we will find stronger and wiser Wiccans standing in their place in the near future.

My answer to your question would be to start with Scott Cunningham鈥檚 book 鈥淲icca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner鈥? After that you should get your hands on the book 鈥淲icca for Beginners鈥?by Thea Sabin, and also 鈥淭he Circle Within鈥?by Dianne Sylvan.

All three of these books are good. Scott Cunningham鈥檚 books are great eclectic books for beginners. Wicca for Beginners lays out Wicca pretty plainly and The Circle Within aids in describing how a new person in the Craft could apply Wicca to their daily lives.

If all else fails, go to http://www.witchvox.com/ There you will find articles written by many active Wiccans, Witches and Pagans. Several of which are authors themselves. At Witchvox you can find a local group that you might fellowship with and learn a more hands on approach.

I hope this Blurp helps some.

Always in Light and Love

Nyjh

Wiccan, why that? Studies show people that get involved in that type of behavior are missing something...you aren't going to find what you're missing in any book but the Bible and in God.

You have time to change b4 it is to late.
