Question about welfare?

I am kind of in a wierd situation.. i am 21 and i live with my stepmom..(or should i say she lives with me since i pay the rent) but she is actually only 1 year older than me.. she is 22... she married my dad 2 years ago and they have two baby girls together but my dad got locked up so now its just us.. i am a full time student and i work full time too and i can take care of myself.....
well she is trying to get welfare since she is not working but she is saying that in order to get it she needs my financial aid informaton and she needs me to go down there so they can get a copy of my drivers lisense and my fingerprints..
that just seems wierd to me cuz i am an adult.. i am legally her stepchild but i am 21 years old and i take care of myself and have nothing to do with their situation.. so what is their reason for collecting my information?.. she claims that she cant get it without it.. i dont lke that.. cuz then its like im getting welfare.. i dont want it to effect me later n life...
so my question is that by getting welfare or giving them my information will it have any effect on me in the future or will they be able to give me less financial aid since they are giving her welfare?

Because you are 21 she does not need you to get welfare. The only thing is she might get mor efood stamps but that is about it. But she can still get it without it.
If you are put on the case with her it will not affect your financial aid or you later in the future. For one it is her case, for 2 it makes no difference in your future life and financial aid will not hold it against you, it may actually help. However, I would be careful to make sur eshe is including your income because if not, then that is fraud and you might get in trouble for it.

Generally, they need information on everyone in the household....on the hh income and debts. However, I wouldn't give HER anything. I would go down with her or alone and give them the info they needed, and explain to them that YOU are not applying for welfare. It will not mess up anything with you unless you are collecting it.

Usually they check out everyone in the household and if there is income coming in to determine how much should be given out. I would not give anything to her and go down in person to check out what they need and why since you are "not part of her family" and are on your own. It should not affect you now or in the future.

Don't volunteer anything until you've investigated all ramifications. You could either go down to the office, or call, and check with them for the true facts.

Move out now or kick her out. You are going to end up supporting her and the kids.

tell your lazy stepmom to get her hand out of my pockets and get a job
