How do I fight this??

I'm trying to go back to college this semester. SJRCC says that they require an official transcript of my GED. I have given them my preliminary scores, my actual watermarked, stamped, and signed GED, as well as an E-transcript from GED123.org. This E-transcript has all my scores, as well as a verification code that the school can use to verify that the transcript is valid. They are telling me that none of this is official, and cannot be used. This is all the information I can give them. The state that issued my GED says that the E-transcripts is the system they use now. SJRCC won't complete my application until they are provided an "official transcript," thus holding up my registration and financial aid. I feel that I have given them an "official transcript." I've talked to the dean of records, the financial aid director, the vice presidents office, and no one can provide me with a law, or policy that says this is required. I just keep getting the run around. Who do I go to now?

Patience and persistence are the only way to break through the dreaded run-around. I suppose an admissions director is in charge of your application: Take notes at every meeting about what more is required, and ask the person with whom you meet to sign the list. Set up a follow-up appointment on the spot and bring what was asked to the next meeting. If your state no longer issues paper transcripts, ask someone from that state to fax a signed/dated letter that says so to your admissions office (and obtain a copy for yourself as well).
