SOS ! Help Please !!!!!

I just been accepted to my school of choice
I've done all my finanicial aid and my efc was 0, so I recieved alot of student aid and federal loans , my tuition, room & board, and books are covered for school. But I need money to buy supplies for school such a laptop.

I wanna take out a small private loan,
I wanna go through my grandmother cause she has great credit, will I be approved with her as my cosigner even if she's retired?
If not I have someone else who credit isn't all that great...but is okay
but she said she's will pay all the interest for me while I'm in school
do you know of any good private loan companies to go through

who's interest rates are low
and maybe have a fixed interest rate...

any information would help

Thanks Alot for any advice you can give

You are very lucky to have your expenses and tution paid. Many dorms have computer labs actually IN the dorms. You will also have a libary on campus. I agree you should not take out a private student loan to buy a laptop. Private student loans all not normal, no matter how many colleges and websites say they are. Private loans are subprime and a last resort. Also, they have VARIABLE interest rates and do you really want to be paying on that laptop for the next 30 years? Also, some folks are denied for private student loan because thier cosigner is too old.

Save yourself money and your grandmas credit score and ask for a laptop for Christmas or start a "laptop" fund to buy you one. Get a Work study job and earn it.

In 2 years, that laptop will be out of date and not worth any money. PS: Walmart advertised one this week for less than 600 dollars.

Unless you're taking computer classes you're not going to need a laptop. There are plenty of library computers available for you and you can write papers by hand first before typing them up which will give you a better chance to review and edit. Your school may also have laptops you could rent out for the semester.

You want to avoid getting in debt as much as possible.
