How can I get a financial aid..?

My son has just started college. My ex-wife makes six times more money than I do (thanks to the sluggish economy). I can't afford his college education without a financial aid (FAFSA) in the long run. The problem is my ex does not want to provide her personal info to the FAFSA, as she is supposed to, as a custodian parent... I'm stuck! Help, please!!!

First, neither you or your ex- wife is under any obligation to pay for your sons education. If you can't afford it and she is not willing don't feel obligated. He will be more likely to graduate if he's paying for it on his own anyway. He can also finance it himself with the help of filling out the fafsa.

However, he is REQUIRED to list the parent he has lived with the most the most recently on the fafsa. (see link below). If this is his mother, the she has to provide this info for him to get federal financial aid.

Try getting a grant. They only give out so many, so you have to apply quickly. Not sure where to apply. but i know my sister got one once. and you don't have to pay it back. Its worth checking into!

Contact the school's financial aid information and explain the situation to them.
