Need some help with information about my pell grant and exactly when I can expect to recieve it. ?

I haven't received any email alerts or mail about my financial aid I called the office and was told that I have received a pell grant and need to enroll to find out how much it is. I wanted to know when the grant would actually be available. Thanks

A Pell Grant award is determined by three factors - if you know those 3 factors, you can predict exactly how much of a grant you are eligible to receive.

1. The EFC score calculated by the Department of Education from your FAFSA submission.

2. The Cost of Attendance at your school (this includes tuition, books, fees, room and board, and miscellaneous educational expenses)

3. Your registration status. Full time students (those registered for at least 12 credit hours) are eligible for a certain amount, while students registered as 3/4 time (9 hour), 1/2 time (6 hour) or 1/4 time (3 hours) students receive proportionately less.

The maximum Pell Grant award for this academic year is $4731, which would be paid to a full-time student with an EFC score of zero. Pell grants are paid in two equal payments (one half of the award), one for the fall semester, and one for the spring. The smallest Pell Grant award for a full-time student this year is $890 - which would go to a student with an EFC between 3801 and 4041.

As far as receiving those funds - Pell Grant aid is disbursed relatively quickly, once your school's financial aid office has certified your eligibility and attendance to the Department of Education. Many schools allow financial aid recipients to pay a little later than students who are paying out-of-pocket, but you would need to confirm whether your school has this type of arrangement (otherwise you may be expected to pay up front and receive a refund later).

I hope this helped you - good luck!

that depends on when you enroll. Once you enroll in school, your PELL grant is awarded and the PELL grant money is sent to your school. Your school will then use the money to cover your bill. Once your bill (total balance due to your school) is covered, anything left will be given to you. Again, your school will have to let you know the schedule for distributing refunds as each school has their own system.

they can only disburse the funds until you enroll.
it's usually the first day of classes, sometimes on the friday before the semester begins, but it depends on the school.

When you enroll some of that money can be applied to your tuition, so if you got no money for enrolling now, then you should do that.

I believe the grants are something between 2800 and 4000 per semester, but that if you qualify, it depends on your income or parents income. It could be less.

Anyways if after tuition is paid and you still have money left, it gets disbursed in two payments per semester.
