What is it about the african lifestyle and culture that allows the rapid spread of AIDs?

What political/economical obstacles do they face? If you have info specifically about AIDs in Nigeria that would be extra useful for my school project - thanks

This is a very interesting question.

I have noticed many organizations spend millions and millions of dollars on RESEARCH and CURES for this disease, but I have yet to hear anyone talk about EDUCATION! I think they need to take some of these Africans, throw their a**** in AIDS 101, and have them go back to their homelands and TEACH people (in their native tongue) about AIDS. A lot of these people die from AIDS that have never heard of it and don't know what it is.
Also, these people don't have the resources accessible to them. They don't have the education nor knowledge. All I'm saying is, a few words can, will, or may go a long way. I think society is too caught up on trying to get a cure, but these people have to be educated on what it is and what it can do to them.

That's just me.

well I think the fact that they are such a poor country and cannot afford condoms readily is a number one point. Secondly, poor medical care means that the women give birth to HIV positive babies (of course int he rich countries like the UK /USA etc , HIV positive mothers are detected, and the baby can usually be protected from infection) so the mother may have 8 or so children who have HIV..they then breed their own children, whilst passing it to others etc...
Also, the men treat women as objects for intercourse and regularly 'rape' them. It is very accepted and commonplace. One man - one woman doesnt happen so much...one man may have many women- thus passing his disese to them all, and they all having a family full of HIV babies...
poor medical conditions mean it spreads in hospitals etc too
It is all a result of lack of money and lack of education. It is a terrible circumstance that now seems too far out of control for any reasonable measures to be taken to eliminate it at all.

I have heard that it is considered unmasculine for a man to wear a condom..Plus, because of poverty a lot of people are involved in the sex trade.

It probably related to the people not knowing what that they have it. The people need to be educated about these problems

most of the things they eat are already infected and besides without treatments their children are born with it

Its cause they don't use condoms.

they rape monkeys

they probably don't use condoms... so don't be a fool wrap your tool

leave africa alone
let nature take its course
