How do hearing aids work?

I wear them in both ears, and I'm really curious about how they actually work. I mean, I understand Cochlear implants because they stimulate the hair nerves in the cochlear, but what do hearing aids actually do? There's no operations for any such, do they just send louder noises to your eardrums? Any info would be awesome. Thank you.

Hearing Aid

Microphone:
Picks up sound waves

Circuit:
Changes the sound waves into an electrical signal and modifies it based
upon computer data provided by the hearing professional. The circuit is
manipulated by sophisticated software to do the following:
Detect feedback and virtually eliminate it (telephone)
Reduce harsh effects of loud sounds (trucks)
Reduce almost all background noise hindering speech perception (party
situations)
Enhances the fine nuances of music (concerts)

Receiver:
Converts the amplified sound back into an electrical signal to deliver the
sound through the ear canal.

Battery:
Charges energy particles provide the necessary power to the components
of the hearing aid.

Basically they are just amplifiers But very special ones when you have an hearing test they fine out what sounds you can't here and the hearing aids are then tuned in to theses sound using the pitch frequency and volume to help your hearing. There are many types of aids and different ways in witch they work but if you ask your audiologist they can tell you more.

They amplify sound waves to a higher frequency (pitch) so that the ear can pick them up better, in the ways you described already.
