Why we must always question what we see on tv?

I believe the news does a lot of good for the people. What I want to know is what harm the news may do to the citizens? Is the news bad or is it good? Is it okay to question the news? Which major news network can one trust and why? Like CNN, FOX, NBC, ? Thanks so much for the input!

The news teaches hate, war, conflict, to keep us subdued, yielding taxes and freedom to fight distant threats, which the elite create and exaggerate.

I thought government & legislators controlled our world. Wrong ! World wide 10,000 or so people, who own the banks, corporations, military industrial complex, pharmaceuticals, news, and the legislators, own the money, most corporations & assets and the main stream media. They are working together for their gain, our loss.
They create our world of information & perception, leading us to aid their increase in power and the lessening of our thought, freedom, wealth, health & safety. They are not working for our benefit.

To ignore this, hoping that our legislators, courts, President will help us is the great illusion. We have to think, realize what is on going and take positive action, writing letters, meeting & telling others, to Awaken a Sleeping (apathetic - hopeless) America.

What every you may have imagined or suspected, I can give or find for you hard evidence.

The news teaches nothing. It reports the state of things, either truthfully or otherwise. The way we react to media information puts US in charge, not them.

There is always 'foreign' news. Check the BBC news broadcast. This should give a comparison for the same news item. If you're only an English speaker you also have the choice of Australia and New Zealand.

By virtue of the fact that you're communicating on Yahoo, you also have the web.

One of the systems greatest weapons is distrust and paranoia.

There is no necessity for 'mind control' etc. The powers that be have one thing working in their favour. The general population has no leader.

I don't blindly trust the media , I don't blindly trust you!

I trust about 10% of what I see on television news and in print journalism.

The only political information you can find on TV that you should never question is C-Span. If you want to know why you should question other networks, all of them, watch C-span, make up your own mind, THEN watch Fox News and CNN and so on and watch their take on it. You will realize how government business is misconstrued into sound bytes to push an agenda that these networks rely on.

While their is an elite class beyond upper-class that wields an extreme amount of power, this notion that they work in concert for their benefit only is false. Those people, just like us, disagree just as often. They use their positions of power against each other. Worldwide their are myriad cliques of these people working against each other.

No. The (American, non-print) news teaches us what compelling video is most marketable that day. I disagree with this conspiracy theory, because it's predicated on the notion that the news media is reporting stories of strife. This only happens when:
1. there's compelling video
2. a critical mass of impactfulness is reached which would make their not covering the event conspicuous.

I'm always amused when I hear that it was a slow news day, no it wasn't it's just that the relevant stories are being omitted.
