There is a great US Department of Education pamphlet that will answer all of your questions. It's called "Funding Education Beyond High School: The Guide to Federal Student Aid." I've linked to it below, but if you'd rather read it offline, you can ask any high school guidance department for a copy.

This booklet explains the entire financial aid system, including federal aid, state aid, aid offered directly by the university, scholarships, and even private loans. You'll learn how to apply for all of these forms of aid, who is eligible and how much money is available.

You have a lot of questions - congratulations on that, because these are the exactly the kinds of questions that every new college student should be asking. You'll find the answers that you are looking for in this guide.

I hope it helps - if you have any other questions after you've had a chance to look through it, come on back and post again, and I'll watch for your question.

Good luck!
