Information about dropping a college course?

I'm taking physics and I doubt I'll receive a C or better in the class. I'm thinking about dropping the class but not really sure how it will effect me with in the future. I'm majoring in Computer Engineering so physics is a requirement (I'll probably be taking a lower level physics class next fall.) With physics, I'll have a total of 16 units. If I drop the class, I'll have a total of 12 units.

Here's the questions; will dropping this course effect my financial aid even though I'm still be considered a full-time student? How will graduate schools and employers react when seeing a "W" on my transcript? If I retake the course next semester, will the "W" be replaced with the new grade?

If you still have enough credits to be full-time, dropping the course shouldn't affect your financial aid. Seeing the W will tell them you probably overloaded on courses or took a course before you were ready for it. No, the W doesn't get replaced - transcripts are ordered by semester, so they'll just see you took it again. But the W won't affect your GPA. A W or two won't make a difference to grad school or employers, but a lot of them will, so don't make a habit of it. And when people have trouble with physics, 90% of the time they're having trouble with the math - so brush up on that before taking the class again.
