How do I convince my mom to let me me go to ethiopia with the church elders?

How do I convince my mom to let me me go to ethiopia with the church elders?
Im 17, a junior in hs, and I really want to serve. I have the oppurtunity to go with my church to ethiopia and provide medical aid, and housing, and building, and education, and bible studies! BUT my mom wont let me. I think she is afraid. What should I do? How do I convince her that I will be okay? 3 years ago I was kicked out of a camp for being a "bad influence"- because I let myself get sunburned while a duct-taped pattern was on my back- and all the younger kids did it. How do I explain that this IS different? What can I do? Like- there will be no other kids there. Except ethiopians. I would be the only student going. How do I convince her I will be safe, and that I really want to do this?
I want to help people! and I have the oppurtunity.
On top of that, how would I be able to raise money to go? Can you go door to door asking for donations? Or is that shady?
Is getting a passport a hassel?
What about all the shots?
I am not scared.
why should my mom be?
i am fairly independent as it is.
i make all A's and in all AP courses
I dont know what to say/do/act?
ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE GREAT,
and if you are a billionaire and you would like to help me financially with this that'd be awesome!
What are benefits that this would give me. Think in terms of: college, life-time experience, religiously, etc.

There are no billionaires here, they have better ways to entertain themselves.

You can convince your mom by having her meet the elders and have them tell her about previous trips. Pictures of where you live would be good.

If they are sending an underage person there, they'll help your with passport and shots.

No clue on where to get money. You will gain experience and salvation, but nothing for college.

I agree, having the church elders talk to your mom might be your only hope. But your mom loves you and is only doing this because she doesn't feel it's a good idea. There will be many other times to get to do a trip like this. You might not feel like it, but if you really want to go, when you get older, you will find a way. I did not travel the world until I was 28. And then I traveled everywhere! So be patient. If now is not the time, it's not the time. Your mom loves you, remember that. And she's only doing what she feels is best for you.

No matter what you can't, I can't say even here I will be ok. It is a position of faith, who are you to say you have control of things outside for which you have no control.Wait a few years and if you feel the calling then do it.Until then your mom is justified in protecting you.That is a parent being a parent. What if something should happen to you, imagine the guilt your mom would feel.Like I said when you turn 18 and still feel the calling then it is on you, not your parent.
