I need help with an assignment on total amount of federal spending...?

I have an assignment where we have to list the total amount of money spent on a specific social welfare program in the US in 1996 and 2005.
So far I have not been able to find anything on:
Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) for 1996
Worker's Compensation for both 1996 and 2005
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) for 1996
Mental Health/Mental Retardation for both 1996 and 2005
Area on Aging Agencies for 1996

I also have to answer these questions:
- What % of the total budget is designated for social welfare programs?
- What % of the budget is designated for programs that address the needs of children?
- What % of the budget is designated for the elderly?

I have been searching and searching for weeks all over the internet, but I just can't find anything. If anyone can help with any of these, or at least might know a site where I can find some of this information that would be greatly appreciated!!

There are government websites that should have this information. Look under the Federal Government home page to begin with than check budgets. Some of the items such as Worker's Comp is a State program so the Federal Government spending should be 0.
