Full paid tuition at a state school or transfer to the University of pittsburgh?

after my first semester in college they have a program in honors that will pay your tuition for your whole college career... but the problem is that people tell me that school name matters and it has been beating my head for the past month... which is making me want to transfer to a bigger name school like the university of Pittsburgh.

right now i have a 3.7 gpa, going to complete 37 credits and an IT major.. (possibly an information systems major).

penn state said they dont accept transfers for my major.. so its not an option... i cant afford private schools.. so u of pitt is pretty much the only one i can actually see my self in.

Right now i attend slippery rock university, a pensylvania state school... i keep getting made fun of for it.. specially being the brightest of the family i chose a small state school.. Many say that name matters so is a full ride worth giving up to possibly attend the university of pittsburgh? theyre tuition is not bad at all.. i wouldnt pay much anyways because of financial aid.. so tell me is it worth it?! should i just apply and see if i get accepted?

University of Pittsburgh is a good school. Slippery Rock on the other hand is only a Tier 3, while UP is First Tier.

It depends on what you want. A free and decent education at Slippery Rock with a mockable name on your resume, or a good school that you may have to pay a bit of money for.

Apply. It can't hurt, if you don't get in, you don't. If you do and like the campus and what the school has to offer, do what's in your best interest.
