Is a disorderly conduct bad if i plan to become a teacher?

i am 17 and i did something a year ago that caused me to get charged with a disorderly conduct. I live in new york. My lawyer(legal aid) said something about getting it sealed or something??

Could i still become a teacher with a disorderly conduct? I fought this kid.. Was self defense, but i took it extremely.. I was hit first by this kid, and thrown to the floor. I then picked up a rock and smashed his face.. And he went to the ER and police came and yea..


Anywho i was wondering if this could affect my chances of becoming a teacher. If i am 17. Could it get sealed which is, it cleans off my record once i turn 18??? And my school that i will teach cant find out about it even with a good background check?


I am really worried and pissed. Seriously, the kid had me on the floor and was punching me. I took the rock hit his face and repeated till i saw blood come out and knew it was time to stop..

Do not depend upon your records being sealed. It is now a part of your life, Accept it and be honest with others about it. By the time you become a teacher its importance will have diminished except to get in a fight is one thing, the smashing of the face is more. You may have anger issues although defense may be an acceptable explanation. Stop giving a blow by blow replay. That is a sure sign of youth. Think of how to present this in a manner that does not make you to be a stark raving maniac. It is expected that youthful follies will not follow us into adulthood. Make sure that it doesn't.

Any crime done by someone never looks good for a job.
A job like that, they tend to be more strict.

But you still be able to land a job after some time, different places have different rules and different time frames.

Just do NOT lie about it, cause if they find out, you will really be doomed. When they ask if you been confectived or whatever, tell them yes, explain to them what happen, and explain to them why you won't ever make a mistake like that again.
