Low income apartment leasing. What if you get caught ... what happens? |
If you apply for a low income apartment and somehow they find out that you actually make more money.. what happens? Do you get in trouble with government? Also does it affect financial aid from school? It is welfare fraud and a felony crime. You would have to pay the money back, and serve time in prison or probation. The felony will follow you throughout your life, making you ineligible for most government programs, difficult to obtain rental property and difficult to obtain work. There are many professions you would not be able to obtain a license in as a felon. Normally you would just get denial letter due to income. Nothing would really happen unless you moved in and lived there for awhile. Then it would be considered scamming. It all depends on your taxable income, not stuff you earn "under the table" One must be truthful on all applications. If you are not, it is fraud. You would have to pay back what was frauded, and, yes, it could affect your financial aid from school. If you lied about one thing, you are abt to lie about others. This is fraud. |
