Parents wont give up info for FASFA. ?

My parents wont give up their info for me to apply for FASFA. I am going to talk to my admissions counselor and see what I need to do, but I was wondering how can I apply for any types of grants or loans or any kind of financial aid other than FASFA?

by the way, im not in high school, i dropped out and taking my GED next week. Also, my parents have not claimed me in two years. I have been on my own since i was 18.

Sadly, FASFA is it! If you want financial aide, you have to fill out a FASFA. Why will your folks not help. Tell them unless they want to pay for your college, they have to give you the info. That is nothing to play around with. The reason FASFA wants their income information is to make sure you are eligible for financial aide. some parents make too much money to earn financial aide. Tell your parents that if they dont give it to you, you will have to make it up (which could get them in trouble later on)

Why not? Maybe you can talk to them about it, or get the info behind their backs, because that's unreasonable and because FAFSA is the only way to apply for federal financial aid, the main kind people use. See if you can get some special exemption from the rule that college students need to report their parents' information. Some people do, but very few, because if students only report their info, they are usually broke and get a ton of money, but then their parents cheat other people by not paying. There are usually smaller scholarships at different schools, see what your intended school offers.

You are going to have to get them to give you their information. FAFSA is the only way to get aid. Schools use it in deciding how much aid your need and if you are eligible for any need based scholarships. Sit down and talk to them. Tell your high school counselor what is going on and see if he/she can have a conference with your parents. I know what you are going through. I had the same problem with my parents when I first went to school. They were offended that I even asked and said it was none of my business or anyone Else's. I had to fudge and guess off of an old pay stub I found. I wouldn't recommend doing that. I ended up not getting much of any aid and what info I did get from my parents they over exaggerated because they didn't want me to know how poor we really were. At least that is what I think it was. Neither of my parents went to college so I do not think they understood fully what I needed from them. If you cant get any info, you can always try joining a branch of the military and going on the G.I Bill. Also ask your high school counselor if there are any private scholarships you are available for that you wouldn't need the FAFSA for. Unfortunately, to get any federal aid you will need your parents' info. There are questions like this all the time. Why won't your parents give their info up? There is nothing else you can do if they won't at least not until you're 24, married, or having a baby. The only thing you can do is apply for other scholarships that don't require FAFSA and private loans that also don't require FAFSA.

Are you parents the kind of people who hate signing electronic signature machines because they're scared that their identity will be stolen? You should coerce them by showing them how much money you could receive and say that you'll buy them a fancy Italian dinner.

I'd ask your high school counselor to give them a call. They are probably worried that they are somehow agreeing to foot the bill. The military is always an option to pay for college, too.
