We are moving to Nashville and insterested in Career in nursing. What is the best path to take and schools?

We are moving to Nashville, TN and my wife is wanting to pursue a Nursing Career. What we have found is that it is very hard to find information on where she should go and how exactly to get in.

Does every school have a waiting list, and how does she get on them?
What schools near Nashville would you recommend?
Is there Financial Aid for Nursing School?
She is wanting to be an RN. How long will it take her and whats the best path to get her there? (Ex. Should she become an LPN first and then work on becoming an RN or go straight to RN? Shes not a typical student-30yrs old, 2 kids at home, etc.)

Sorry--lots of questions, but we are having a very hard time finding defined answers for them on the net. Thank you so much in advance for your time and tips and answers!

Vanderbilt has a very fine School of nursing --very expensive and yes they have financial aid
