The change to aggregate aid limits?

This question is more for those who may work in financial aid departments. I'm trying to gather information before I get my hopes up. I was accepted into a graduate program a year ago; unfortunately I was slightly over the aggregate limit for undergrads and could not qualify for further aid. I have been working on saving and paying it down so that I can continue my education. Recently, I saw information that the government has changed the aggregate limit and with that change, I am back under. My question for any financial aid workers out there, will the new limit pertain to me, or would I still be held to the original limits?

An "aggregate limit" is a lifetime limit. So even if you did, "pay it down" you still would have borrowed the max for your lifetime.

Now, if the limits are upped, this would give you a bit borrow borrowing power. But only to the extend of the difference in the two amounts, and not what you might have paid down since.
