FASFA: Haven't lived with parents since birth but grandma not adopted? |
I'm 18. Have been living with my grandma since the day I was born. Mom is out and about, Dad nowhere to be found. So, when I get to the part on FASFA where it asks about parent information do i put unable to provide parent information. Will this mess up the amount of financial aid I'll be able to get? Because it says that if I don't give parent information, the application isn't complete and I must go to the colleges I applied and talk to FAA or something like that. Put down your grandma's info since she is legally your parent. Also go speak to an FAA ASAP. He or she will be able to help you speed up the FASFA application. There is a worksheet on the FAFSA website that will help you figure out if you are an independent student. If you find that you are an independent student, then you will not need to include your parents' information. You can find the worksheet here: She is your legal guardian. |
