My EFC for FAFSA was 9677?!?

I looked up what EFC meant and it say's Estimated Family Contribution? WTF... how in the hell do they get that my parents are going to contribute $10,000.

I didn't add their information to my FAFSA, if I add it, will this better my chances of getting financial aid?

I don't have any communication with my father, so how do I go about saying, 'hey, he's not in my life so therefore I wont be getting any assistance from him'?

$10,000 psh... gotta be kidding me.

EFC is based on your available income. It sounds like YOU have too much income to receive pell. If the household is one, usually can't make more than around 15,000 or 17,000 to get any pell. So if you make more than around 1,300 a month with a household size of 1, probably can forget about pell.

Also don't listen to the last person, 0 efc usualy indicates pretty much not enough income to support themselves or no job at all.

You should contact the Financial Aid Office of the school that you are interested in attending to ask about filing the FAFSA and the meaning of the EFC.

All I know is that I scored a 0 on mine...which apparently means I get the maximum amount of money that the government gives out. WOO HOO
