In your opinion...(Astronomy)?

What is a really interesting, sort of off-beat topic in astronomy that would be easy to do research on. I'm looking for something that would be easy for a high schooler to understand but yet enough information to create a project out of. Our projects though consist of children's books, a game, powerpoint (basically any visual aid). Any interesting ideas out there would be great!
Thanks!

I think Black Holes are very interesting. Just twenty years ago, they were completely hypothetical. Now they're being discovered everywhere through out the universe; in fact, there's a super massive black hole at the center of our galaxy. The laws of physics break down at their centers, and time stops at the event horizon. They may even be portholes to other parallel universes.

Hi. H. A. Rey, the author of "Curious George" wrote a great book on constellations. http://www.edwardtufte.com/bboard/q-and-... Could be used as the starting point for a project on constellation.

probably the exploration of mars it has a history of alot of failiures and ony a few sucesses any way it is very interesting though if you look into it

How about gamma ray bursts? They produce supernovae and black holes, so they're pretty cool, but not as many people have heard about them.

How about mining asteroids? They are closer than Mars and more dangerous. Perhaps you could find out the composition of the bigger ones and where to land on them.

Moon!
