Traveling abroad to Australlia.. Love hot weather, beaches, and partying! Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast?

A little about me..I go to school at Washington State University, which is a pretty crazy party school.. and I am for sure traveling abroad to Australia February of 2010 ... I was considering either the Gold Coast or The Sunshine Coast. I absolutely love hot weather and beaches.. and I especially love to party and kick it! But the thing is I am pretty broke.. Financial aid in all.. so it should not be too big of an issue.. but any suggestions?? Which place is crazier with the funnest people??! I can鈥檛 wait .. Australia looks sooo AMAZING! Any info would help me out so much!!!

The Gold Coast for sure . Surfers paradise never sleeps . You can stay at a backpaackers for about $20 a night. You can shop at the supermarket for your food or there are many fast food outlets such as mcdonalds. KFC Plenty of competition on the Gold Coast so things are not expensive. unless you want to live the high life. Any amount of night life.

without a doubt the Goldy is your pick. The sunny coast is too laid back, lovely, beautiful <yawn> but a tad boring - and i'm a boring married with kids type person!

if you know what you're doing you can always live on the cheap, seriously, can't you live on cereal, beans and toast? you'll be right, have fun!

Gold Coast is definitely party central compared to Sunshine Coast which is more relaxed and laid back! Sometimes Gold Coast can be a bit pricy though so do your research before you go! :)

hahahahaha i live in Aus and i thought it was the same place... i guess not

Gold Coast definatety!!!

Sunshine coast is for holidaying families and old people, Gold Coast is for partying!!

I live on the gold coast and you'll love it!! Cavill Ave in Surfers Paradise is the place to be if you like Night Clubs and partying. But there is a pub or tavern on pretty much every corner around here too!
If you want cheaper drinks and good live music, the beer garden is the one to go to. Its not the flashest of clubs but once you've had a few you want even notice!
There are miles and miles of beaches, but stick to patrolled ones if you are swimming in case you run into trouble there are lifesavers on duty at all patrolled beaches. Try your hand at surfing while you're here!

There are tons of backpackers accomodation places for somewhere cheap to stay and at least you'll be near guaranteed to have people your age and interests staying there too.

There are buses for public transport and if you want to go up to Brisbane you can catch the train.

Other attractions are Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (zoo), 3 themeparks - MovieWorld, Sea World and Dreamword and also two water theme parks - Wet'n'Wild and White Water World (which is a part of dreamworld). Plus tons of other things to do. Plenty of great shopping centres/malls for some retail therapy! And miles of beaches, parks and walking tracks along the beach too

Up past brisbane you also have Australia Zoo - the one that was owned and run by the late Steve Irwin. His family now run the place (its about 2 hours north of the G.Cst in a town called Beerwah) You definately have to go and check that out while you are here. You can get bus tours from GC to up there.

The Gold Coast is an awesome place and well worth visiting. Enjoy every second of it. I guarantee you won't be disappointed!

Have a great trip. Australia is an awesome country
