Look up HIV-1 and HIV-2, learn the differences in the two strains.

Then look up CCR5 and CXCR4.

Not recently. I once watched a really interesting episode of "Nova" the science show (it was on PBS) which covered this subject and also during the Black Death in the Middle Ages how one family in England somehow never got it and a descendant now in the USA seemed to be immune to AIDS despite risky behaviour.. Maybe if you go on the Nova website you can dig around and see if there are references.
