Spiritually speaking if the RCC is against birth control devices as being against god's will and a prevention?

of life . Why force those beliefs on people who live in poor countries who can't afford 2 children much less 8 or 10 and how about African countries with high AIDS rates ? Abstinence only education is proven not to work as people simply refuse to stop having sex .

Teach them to protect themselves, and either they will accept it or not. Many African countries still have AIDS problems because they won't alter their behavior either.

Keep religion out of their lives and give them common sense approaches to help them survive. That's all we can do.

The RCC really does not care what anyone can afford as long as they keep what they have and collect as much more as possible. A bunch of old coot Cardinal men "Elect" the pope. Sex requires 2 people to create the potential for baby making, both parties ARE responsible for, health, safety and contraception.

The Catholic Church does not obligate anyone to have children they cannot afford and/or otherwise care for.

There is NO good reason to do that.

If their religious views are so, then they need to just keep that to them self and stop pushing their **** on people.

Freedom of religion is part of being free. Religion should have NO place in politics.

Who cares what the church says. I'm sure there's a bunch of catholics who use fornication. There's lots of gays who go to church even though they are suposed to not be gay.

We don't promote "abstinence only education."

We promote the sanctity of marriage, the sin of adultery, the consequences of adultery: horrible diseases. Most importantly, we promote Natural Family Planning. Extended, exclusive breastfeeding to delay the return of fertility. Most women in poor countries are very knowledgeable in discerning their fertile times ANYWAY, so the idea to abstain the few days a month when you are most fertile is not really a difficult prospect.

What Americans have a very difficult time understanding, and I have come across this A LOT in my life -- is that people in poor countries (who happen to be predominantly Catholic) is this: poor countries don't have Social Security or retirement plans. The reason women in the Philippines or Mexico have 10 children isn't because the Catholic church told them to. They do it so that they and their husbands will be taken care of when they are old. By their employed children. Buddhists and Muslims also do this. Look at Vietnam. The average family size for Muslims is six, four children, two adults.

Know when we are talking about Africa and the AIDS epidemic, I understand with so many African nations actually in war, women are going to be raped. They are going to get AIDS. Should they stop having sex with their husbands? I think they should weigh this on the sin-o-meter. Using a condom is a forgivable sin. Having an abortion is not. I have also heard that many AIDS workers have a hard time getting men to use condoms because the rumor is that the condoms themselves contain the virus. Why do they think this? Well our pharmaceutical companies are over there not only testing drugs on their children, as well as vaccines, but they are offering formula as a gift from God and their babies will be healthier drinking this powder milk over their breast milk. They are doing this to poor women who can't afford formula, and if they can, they can't mix it with a dodgy water supply. Infants die in this world at a rate of one every 30 seconds from formula and marketing to the poor. Do you blame people in Africa for not trusting our pharmaceutical products?

I appreciate you want to have rage at the Catholic Church, but know there is many sides to every story -- and please don't forget what good we DO in poor countries. We support so many poor people around the world -- just feeding them. We give our hard earned money to do it.

Yes, there is a ton of injustice in this world -- but it's not all OUR fault.

The women of those countries should be educated as to how they can prevent the spread of this disease.

If they kept their damn legs closed and stayed faithful to thier husbands then this wouldnt be happening.
