Who goes on peacekeeping/peacebuilding missions for the UN and/or the United States Institute of Peace?

Or, more specifically, what is the job title(s) of those that go on such missions? My dream job is to travel to other countries to facilitate dialogues and aid in the prevention and/or resolution of conflicts. Many people have told me the title is "diplomat," but I've checked the State Dept. site, and the job description does not match what I'm looking for. I checked the UN's site for jobs, and the closest I've been able to get is "humanitarian affairs officer." Still not sure if that's correct though, so I'd really appreciate any help anyone can give me!

Aristo Crap - Essentially I want to help prevent wars, genocide, and the like from happening and promote the use of dialogue instead of violence when facing conflicts. If that means working for world government, then yes, I really want to do that.

I just saw some type of degree for diplomacy on www.wnd.com.

Those jobs probably go to relatives of politicians.
