What could happen to me? |
Hi. I was shopping at rite aid today when an associate came up to me and said she needed what was in my pocket. I gave her my cell phone some make up and a bottle of advil i had in my pocket i was comming home from school and kept it in my pocket cuz ive been taking it alot for my ear aches but she said I stole it and wrote me up for shoplifting. I tryed to explain what happened and even offered to pay for whatever the pills cost but she still wrote me up for shop lifting. im 24 years old If the matter isn't turned over to police; you will probably just have to pay for the medicine and possible be banned for the store. ya you can but it also madders how old you are to I dont know but stay the heck out of those rite aids I always go to cvs pharmacy and try not to be putting your hands in your pockets so much when you are in a store and if you think she is wrong then fight it and see the video tape Sorry, but I have a real hard time believing this happened twice and you were not guilty either time. They normally have proof BEFORE they approach you. Then again, I can't see how they can fine you without a trial and proving it. As a sidenote, paying the fine is an admission of guilt and if it ever came up concerning a job, it would be used against you. It sounds like you need a reality check. People dont get busted for carrying pills in there pocket. If you did not steal it, don't be scared. Contest it and stcik to your guns. A judge always know when someoneis telling the truth. Ask them to pull the video tape. You got screwed there - you're not shoplifting until you try to remove it from the store. You can walk around with stuff in your pockets all day long and it's not a crime until you remove it from their property. if they were your pills then what are you conceding and offering to pay for them for? that makes you look guilty as fuc*k.....if you didn't do it, then take it as far as you have to to clear your name.....they have video survielance tapes....demand to see them or compell them to produce them in court and prove that they have you on tape stealing...otherwise get an attorney or even a public defender should be able to get you out of this one, assuming that you really are innocent.....additionally, the companie's loss prevention shouldn't be fining ANYONE.....this sounds a little suspect to me as well...if they really thought you stole it, they would have involved law enforcement and had you arrestted for shoplifting....and the fines would be assessed by the magistrate/judge and/or court system, not the company/ store.....my advice would be fight it till the bitter end if you are innocent and make them show you the proof.....i deal with security iussues for my company and we cannot make any accusations like this without hardcore proof, either video or actual visual proof from someone who actually saw you do it.... |
