Public health and Social work?

Im hoping to get into the field of Public Health and Social Work. I need help with the following :
I would like to work for the CDC but I dont want to work inside an office all the time. What kind of options are ther to work in the field? and interact with communities etc?
Regarding the Social work side of things - I like to help with health related issues to any other problem like poverty etc. Can I combine this while working at a place like the CDC. I dont mind working at anyother place like the Red Cross etc
What kind of work can do related to prevention of cancer and AIDS etc?

There is a whole branch of social work that is concerned with public Health. Also a large branch involved in oncology and HIV work. You increase the power of your degree if you do a joint MSW/MPH and there are several programs that have this as an option. As for what kind of work you can do. Certainly running programs for people (in and out of poverty) in and around the issues you discus. Within CDC certainly developing and evaluating prevention and intervention programs. DA
