What causes are you most passionate about and why?

The environment? AIDS prevention? Stopping cruelty to animals? Which causes burn hottest within you and why?

survival of indigenous groups and cultures

the Middle East war. It is causing more involvement by other countries towards any type of peace settlement. Let us stop being so involved with wars we cannot solve.

The environment, it saddens me that we are destroying our planet bit by bit, and not many people are really paying attention to the killing of our own natural resources, not to say our own fellow humans.

I'm not too passionate about any causes in particular (I take things as it is) but I do support awarenesses like environmental protection (green living) and breast cancer (my mom's friend's a survivor). I'm a flexible vegetarian, and I don't shove ideas down people's throats unlike most of the more outspoken supporters.

my passion is children..whether it be crusading, volunteering or donating money I am very passionate about children and children causes. Some being, abuse, neglect, homeless, uneducated, SBS, or just volunteering at our childrens hospital. My career is in education so I am passionate about childrens causes in all areas of my life. We also need to all look at the laws that are supposed to help and protect our precious children, but they are failing and we need to look at why and make changes as to many children are dying at the hands of others..

Children are young, our countrys future, innocent and most importantly helpless. If people like me do not take a stand and help them, who will?????????

My urinary tract infefection burns deep within me...

i'm agaisnt revenue sharing and a salary cap in sports. i feel it undermines the U.S. ecomomic system of a free market.

None of the above come close to the poor, or lack of, parenting that's going on these days. I'm most passionate about educating parents so that they can bring up their children like they did in the good old days when crime wasn't nearly the problem it is today. When kids knew good from bad. When..... well, you get the idea.

TWO THINGS:

I suppose that with all that's happening to the human race, I shouldn't be so concerned about animals but of course it's because of humans that animals are having such a hard time. One of the worst things I can think of is cruelty to animals. It's truly horrendous the ways that people can make them suffer.
The other thing that keeps me awake at night is the kidnapping and rape/torture of little kids.
What it boils down to is that some humans are worse than dumb animals.

Discrimination & Injustice. Just because you are born in certain race or with different sexual orientation so you are not entitled to certain rights, what kind of nonsense is that?

I'm concerned about Lester's urinary tract infection. Good Luck Dude.

Women's issues are being turned back to the 19th century. Our current administration would love to reverse Roe V. Wade. But that would mean women being butchered and worst case, dying. It is our body and should be our choice. If it does not effect you than you should just let me be free to choose.

Gay marriage is also a very important cause. It is about equality of life, not religious right. They are not saying you have to marry someone of the same sex, just give them the same rights as everyone else.

Animals have no voice of their own. We have to speak up and help them.

Sexy Untouchableness.

Education for both children and adults. Especially in health, math, business, science and reading, so people can keep themselves and their environments safe and healthy, understand finances and economics, be proactive and articulate their causes, and continue learning on their own. Educated people are more likely to help themselves and use methods other than brute force to solve problems. Of course the possible debates are legion when we ask who should educate us and in what areas, but ignorance is worse than no education at all.

I am most passionate about current American politics because what happens to our democratic principles affects our rights as human beings of the world and our rights as citizens of the United States.

I consider myself lucky enough to have a passion for the history of civilization so that I am able to see what has taken place in the development of our social fabric. Social fabric has been based, and is continuing to be based, upon power and money. Those who gain and maintain power soon gather the money which then buys more power and gathers more money.

We as citizens of the US, and the world, must take our places to fight for a broader understanding by all citizens of the words of Thomas Paine and others of the 1700's when modern democracy was developing and who set forth concepts that would attempt to bridle the drive for power and domination by those who used the concept of commerce to subvert the the rights of the common man/woman.

Do not let those individuals who do not consider the greater good of the great whole worthy of their consideration become so powerful that the concept of government of the people, for the people and by the people becomes empty rhetoric as is now the case before US citizens through the Machiavellian antics of the Bush Administration.

Remember that YOU must never leave your Civil Rights at home.

Liberty and justice for all. I've been pledging myself to that ideal since I was a little kid, and I still think it's a good idea.

World Unity.
" The Well-Being of Mankind, its Peace and Security, are Unattainable, unless and until its Unity is firmly established."
.

Creating healthy relationships -- The problems you mention can be resolved through loving healthy relationships between people, between people and the environment and animals and through trust and uplifting one another.

Greed

Greed is caused by fear, fear of not having 'enough'. It leads to just about everything that we perceive as 'bad' in the world. Mostly it leads to misery and suffering amongst the world's poorest people, the ones at the very bottom of the 'food chain', but it also is the cause of all forms of war and terrorism, which is still rampant all of the world.

In our world today nearly 11 million children under the age of 5 die in the world every year - well over 1,200 every hour most from easily preventable or treatable causes.

Statistics are interesting, aren't they ? I live in a country of about 11 million people. That means that every year this entire country's population would be dead. In the UK, my country of origin, everyone would be dead in about six years.

From 'easily preventable or treatable causes' !

Because some people, actually a handful, in comparison to the world's entire 6 billion +/- population , a few thousand, think that they are entitled to hoard phenomenal wealth, against the possibility that their supply of Rolls-Royces or Ferraris, might dry up, or that the caviar and Dom Perignon might fall into short supply, meanwhile the vast majority of people don't have enough clean water to drink, and basic foodstuff to keep them alive and in simple good health. All this in a world that has stockpiles of millions of tonnes of food products, and destroys most of that as it deteriorates and becomes unusable.

The system that we have developed over the last few thousand years is not well, the system is actually mortally sick. We need to treat it, very soon.

We need to start becoming our 'brother's keepers'.

We need to real-ise that there is actually an abundance of the basic necessities of life, sufficient to support 10 times the current population of the planet, maybe a hundred.

We need to pay attention when we are told that all of the problems are due to 'over-population', who will decide which of us are the ones too many ? And who will dispose of those ' too many' ? Why would we even think such a thing ???

We need to gently persuade our governments to stop dancing to the tune of the 'powerful' and the super-wealthy, and start doing what they are supposed to do, represent us, the people of the world.

The Millennium Campaign was started in 2002, with certain goals set for 2015, even this radical agenda still means that between those two dates we are accepting the unnecessary deaths of almost one and a half BILLION children !!!

This is hopelessly inadequate. In a world where we can still launch aggressive warfare, kill tens of thousands of innocent 'civilians' from the 'comfort and safety' of remote locations, and even call it 'Shock and Awe', like some cheap movie title, and where we can spend billions and billions of dollars just to hang one man whose crimes seem to pale into insignificance in comparison to what we did to remove him from power, in this kind of a world, shouldn't we be able to do more to help each other ?

Yes, this does 'burn' deep within me, and frankly people, if it doesn't 'burn' within all of us, what kind of 'civilisation' are we ???

How we deal with this is we begin to stop the fear, we have to teach each other that there is enough of everything, not by force, that just creates more of the same, but by the power of 'Love'.

We need to 'Love' Fear and Greed to death.

We don't have to go far to do this, just look around, right there under our noses there some of us living in need, there some of us who need a 'hand', if we all just offered that hand when it is needed the end of fear would be in sight.

There is a fabulous movie on this topic, it's called 'The Girl in the Cafe', starring Bill Nighy, you can read about it here :

Public transportation. It gets people out of their cars, which can save energy, cut pollution and probably save lives, as fewer cars mean fewer potential accidents on our streets and freeways.

It also brings people together. A good high school friend met her husband on the train.

Food and Water for people who live in Africa.

I grew up in a poor family, and most of the time we had no food to eat in the table. And since it is a third world country, we didn't have food stamps or anything. Either you work to have something to eat or you starve. I experienced a lot of difficulties in my way, but I always understood that victories and defeat form part of an individual's life.

organic foods --- good for small farms, good for the environment and good for our health

The world we are destroying for our children. Because I love them all. Imagine for a moment that reincarnation is actual reality. Look at the world from the beginning and where it is now. Who needed cosmic voyages to escape reality? Wouldn't it terrify you to realize that you must return to the Hell on Earth that you helped to create?

1. Wars- Because they destroy innocents lives and serve evil greedy people. When war becomes an aim or a tool to steal others resources it becomes a disgrace! Nothing in this world is more precious than a human soul! Some wars are created in order to keep some countries backward and under control forgetting that what goes around comes around.

2. Alcohol - Statistics show that mortality rate from Alcohol-caused accidents exceed those from wars and natural disasters. Not to forget how many families were destroyed and how many children were abused as a result of consuming this poison. They were able to control smoking, so why don鈥檛 they control alcohol as well by limiting drinking to certain places? I don鈥檛 understand how they allow alcohol in groceries and restaurants but they punish people if they drive under the influence! How can someone under the influence make the right decision and not drive? What logic is that! Perhapse if they keep drinking limited to certain places then they can provide transportation and be sure that no one drives under the influence.

I do everything I can to support thehungersite.com because it is entirely free, and goes a long way to help feed starving people all over the world.

Corruption and waste by the government. Politicians that get useless "earmarks" for their area and sneak it into unrelated bills. The solution, I believe, is term limits.

I do believe that when first elected, politicians, regardless of party, have ideals and goals that would be good for the area they represent, but the longer they stay, the more corruption and greed they see as "the way things are."

So I support the movement for Term Limits. We may lose some good politicians, but I think we would be better and more honestly served.

I would say that most of our social ills are due to a lack of attention by our respective governments, particularly this US administration. Instead of an increase of funds in areas of society that requires immediate attention, this administration has squandered a half trillion dollars on wars that will either last an entire generation or end up in an embarrassing defeat for our nation. President Kennedy said that never before in this generation do we have the opportunity to either eradicate disease, ignorance, and poverty, but at the same time destroy all forms of human life. He was right. The way to be passionate about the elimination of social ills is by becoming passionately involved in the selection of our next generation of leaders. How we appropriate funds to our social priorities, excluding international wars without first using diplomacy to solve issues, is the most passionate cause, in my view. Choose our national priorities and needs of society and nature, itself, through selection of our national leadership.

In no particular order
1. Homeless children (because I have a child)
2. Education (because w/o it we cannot progess)
3. Refugees (because my parents were immigrants)
4. Women's issues like abuse, education, employment, parenting (because I once was a single mother and we should help each other). (my mom & grandmother were divorced and had to raise the children alone back when there were little resources and divorce was taboo.)

I am passionate in anything to do with the welfare of children. We need more positive things for them to do, and more places for them to go. Then maybe we would not see so many kids on the streets. I also think schools need to do more about anti-bullying policies, because I feel being bullied DOES truly mess kids up drastically. I am definately an advocate for The Boys and Girls Clubs of America, as it gives kids a safe, fun place to go. I may not be rich, but I volunteer my time in helping them in any way possible!

I consider myself a caring person, so I am passionate about many causes. I don't like seeing people or animals hurt, so any types of abuse prevention, shelters, organizations, etc. are all things I care about. But to add something that not everyone has necessarily heard of is Autism. I babysit a boy with Autism, and ever since I met him, I have focused a lot of my work towards Autism. As a nursing major, I will do my school projects over Autism in order to educate more people about it. It is such a puzzling disorder, to which many different causes are discussed, but none settled upon. There are so many unanswered questions and puzzling situations that go along with the diagnosis of Autism. I won't go into great detail, but that is something I am extremely passionate about. I will leave some links to some information below.

THE FACT THAT ALL OF THE ANSWERS SHOW THAT OUR WORLD IS SO INTRICATELY INTERCONNECTED THAT TO ALLOW FOR THE SUCCESSFUL ENABLEMENT OF SOLUTIONS TO EACH OF THE EXPRESSED INDIVIDUAL EXPRESSED PASSIONATE INTERESTS we are now at a point in the world when ALL must realize that we must EACH give up a little of an absolute goal in order to reach a concensus that will enable ALL to make inroads against the most powerful & wealthy interests that through their unethical influence create selective blockages against ANY INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP GOAL THAT IS INTENDED TO IMPROVE ALL OF OUR LIVES.
Only by giving up a little of our own passionate goal, can we get those with other opposing interests that also have a well meaning goal to coalesce into some sort of workable group that ALL can willingly participate in. In this way, even the most powerful influences, be forced to recognize that THEY MUST ALSO GIVE UP SOMETHING IN ORDER TO CONTINUE THEIR WEALTH BUILDING. The Difference will be that they will have to practice REAL social responsibility.
There always has been & always will be those who create great wealth at the expense of others.
We MUST ACCEPT THIS FACT & realize THAT ALL THE WORLD IS SO ECONOMICALLY INTERCONNECTED, THAT THE WHOLE WORLD IS IN SOME WAY A CAPITALIST SOCIETY, (REGARDLESS OF FORM OF GOVERNMENT).
We cannot "KILL THE GOOSE THAT LAID THE GOLDEN EGG", but together we can force ALL the Geese to SHARE VOLUNTARILY a MINUTE PORTION of each GOLDEN EGG for the betterment of us ALL. THEY WILL SUFFER NO LOSSES as these kind of groups know how to recoup any kind of loss. ALL OF US THROUGH OUT THE WORLD WILL BE EMPOWERED TO ACHIEVE EACH OF OUR SPECIAL GOALS & PASSIONS.
Best Wishes to ALL MEN OF GOOD WILL.
