L.A. Archdiocese paying $660M for abuse. Fine, but where, and why, does the C. Church have that much money?

While the Church is busy dissing Jews and Muslims, opposing women's rights, opposing gay rights, suppressing AIDS prevention, and keeping left-leaning priests gagged -- is the $660 million just the chunk change left over from these many worthy Christian pursuits? And what is it the Bible says about the "eye of a needle?"

The L.A. Archdiocese has a total wealth of FOUR BILLION DOLLARS. That's 4,000 X $1,000,000. I have no pity for the them. And they want the public to pay for student vouchers? No way, "Jose."

The money is mostly coming from closing down schools and parishes and the sale of those and other assets.

The Church of Rome is writing the US off. Like the corporations before them, they've decided that Americans aren't cost effective. They're moving a lot of their resources to India, which has become a fertile field for converts. The Church is finding that it really pays to have access to a billion people who don't have 1500 years of bad experiences with them.

30 years from now, we'll have a few dozen wealthy Catholic parrishes and thousands of storefront churches run by the cloistered clergy. Which doesn't strike me as an entirely bad thing.

The Catholic Diocese is the wealthiest organization in the world.

Wise investments over the centuries and tax free status. Very small amount from the donations of parishioners.
