Overnight protection?

Okay, I got my period this morning and I just got my grandmother to go to Rite Aid and got some tampons which got me through the day. (Fyi: I already knew alot of stuff about sex, periods, puberty, ect.)
but now it's time to go to sleep and after researching about it I don't want to use a tampon overnight...
[I'm afraid of TSS]
I would use a pad but I highly doubt it will do any good.
It would most likely fall out half an hour after I fell asleep haha
Any advice?

fall out? there is a sticky side on the bottom of a pad so that keeps it in place. but if it falls out on you there's always "overnights" alot of period supply brands that have them. i think stayfree and always has them...basically they're like a big thick pad with wings. wings are sticky sides that stick to the side of the pad. u just bend them to where the pad is basically "around" your underwear. Overnights prevent bleeding very much i've heard. i would never wear them other than sleeping becuz they look like they would make your pants lumpy. sorry for rambling on....but good luck for whatever you choose to help your sleep leakage.

I would give the pads a chance. Get overnight pads with wings, which will help them stay in place.

well do like i do put an tampon in for about 5 hrs and if you got an alarm set it for when your 5 hrs is up and get up and put an pad on if no alarm use your cellphone alarm if got one if not your sol (**** out of luck).

you can buy always overnighters which are pads ut you want to stick with pads overnight. Good job with tampons on your first one.

Now a days a lot of variety of Sanitary pads are available and which are effective too .So it is suggested that you use a good pad with side wings to help you over come this uncomfortable situation.
wishing you all the best in finding some thing suitable to tide the nite over.

My periods are usually VERY heavy the first day or two, so I have to use tampons and pads when I go to sleep.

I know they make the warnings for TSS sound very scary... but that's only to make sure that you use them correctly. The chances of you actually having TSS are fairly slim.

As long as you don't sleep for very long... or if you wake up in the middle of the night to pee or anything, change the tampon then and you can go back to sleep!

Most of the time I'll wake up very early in the morning, change it, then go back to bed so I can sleep in a little bit.

I always use a pad for back-up when I'm sleeping though (and most of the daytime, too)... just look for the pads that say "overnight" on the pack. They're extra long and offer the best coverage for when you're laying down.

Don't be scared of tampons, though.
You shouldn't have to worry about TSS unless you leave your tampon in all day long (which is a BIG no-no), and just make sure your hands are clean before putting the tampon in.

They are actually quite nice :)

Good luck!

i am always worried about it too but what i do when im bleeding heavy is get a tighter well fitting pair of panties(usually old granny panties or something no thongs or skimpy one) and buy the overnight pads and use two if you have to it has always worked for me i have never had a night time "accident" since i started doing it i know it sounds a little excessive but its only for night time during the day you can do whatever you normally do

Wear some underwear that fits perfectly because that is what holds the pad in place, and don't worry. Pads with wings, I think, are the best for staying in place. Tampons are okay to wear at night as long as you don't leave them in for more than 8 hours, but if you don't feel comfortable wearing them that's your choice. Hope this helps xXx
