How does a State University CET (Computer Engineering Technology) program rate compared to Devry Univeristy?

Hi All,

I am debating on whether to attend Devry University/Institute or a local State University (SUNY Farmingdale in NY). I plan to move within about 1 year to California, so I need a school that will allow me to transfer my credits the best way possible. I have been reading a lot about Devry University/Institute, since they are located both in NY and CA and to research how people feel about it. I have seen lots of good and bad comments, such as:

The Bad: they are not nationally accredited, they are expensive, they do not have a university type library, they mess up the financial aid for many students, they constantly change their program requirements

The Good: they are very hands on and prepare the students very well for immediate work in the field, they have small classes and focus more on the students, they make it easy to transfer to almost anywhere in the US

I am just looking for some opinions from people who have experience both worlds. Is it smart to go to a St

In general state university programs are usually more academically challenging than what is offered at programs like Devry University. However, this is not to knock a program like Devry. Devry is more interested in training you in a skill where you will get alot of information to digest at a local state university which isn't necessary or practicable to work in computers.
