Any advice on "Dire Need" SSD,appeals process,expediting it?

I applied,& am awaiting an appeal.(NOT SSI-there's a difference!)I have done much research & checked SS secrets on the web & read 3 great books on topic).I am in a pickle jar, of medical bills & cost of Rx's & drowning N bills,while unable 2work.I don't qualify 4 aid or help or SSI, I know of that help,but don't qualify.My licenses & certifications are expiring/expired & VR can't place me(2 much wrong),so I wondered if anyone else did a dire need?or found a easier way 2 get up N front of the judge?I can't be placed- (VR)means,theres no jobs I am physically& mentally able 2 do,I worked since the age of 13 & pd. taxes.I meet all requirements,& know about the 3 times turned down,but there has 2 be a way?SOS!Help Please! I have a child 2 care 4 & have 2 put off 3 operations 4 lack of $.Thank you N advance, God Bless all people w/disabilities & handicaps it is a hard place 2 fit in this society,w/ rejections,harsh words,& stares.I pray 4 the world 2 be a better place & understanding.Thank u

Thank you Jan, I can't get stamps or SSI, or Medicaid, because I am still married & file taxes w/ him, so they look @ his income as mine,& we do not share bank accounts,& I own no property now (did once), I have zero income, & I am living off child support (not much), I know what u mean about the gait. I have a problem w/left foot, & limp,still get stares in a handicap spot,like nothing is wrong w/me?I have had over 56 operations,SS only goes back one year!But I was able 2 find a way 2 beat the system on that one! I look fine & sound fine (I've been told) but ur right,***walk N a person in pain SHOES & then judge.***I want 2 help patients again desperately,but can't.Now I need help & can't get it?

I know where you are coming from. I am also disabled,my case took two years till it was finally approved. I guess they hope we die off before they approve the benefits that we worked for.
I don't understand why you can't get welfare while you are waiting. I got welfare and food stamps till I got approved. But,I then had to pay them back every penny they gave me once my case was over.
The only suggestion I can offer is to contact your local Congress person. I have heard of people contacting their local representative and with their help,their case was pushed through faster. I can't guarantee it will work,I never tried it myself,just what I heard from others.
I can also relate to the harsh words and lack of understanding. Most think that those of us that get disability are just lazy and don't want to work. I would trade places with them gladly for just one week. My walking is very unsteady and I actually had someone ask me the other day while shopping if I was drunk.
My thoughts are with you and your child,and I wish you the best. Give that Congress person a call,it can't hurt.

Just wanted to let you know mine was approved! and it only took 18 months! no lawyer, did it on my own, so there is proof that you can win the system before dying first! God Bless! My first check is next week! April 08. Report It
