Can you have a daycare in an apartment or condo in the stae of california?

Curently we're in a one bedroom apt, but will be moving in the next 2 months or so. What i am wondering is what are the restrictions on starting a daycare in an apt or condo? Or can you even do it? Once we eventually figure this out, where we plan on moving i can ask the landlord as well, but i wanted to get a head start.

I am already cpr/first aid certified for infants and children. I know there is another class to go through, but this is where I need the info. Could someone with daycare experience please write me? That way I can get a boost in my research...

I used to live in CA and the neighbor next to me watched about five kids. As a courtesy to your neighbors, I'd notify them of your intent to open a daycare. Your landlord though, might not want you taking on the responsibility of watching kids and might want you to take out an insurance policy in case something happens to one of the kids while you're watching them. This insurance policy will prevent the parents from suing the landlord since he owns the property.
